Over my lifetime I have been plagued by the question: Where do I belong? I’m Brazilian but I don’t live in Brazil. I’m Canadian but I don’t live in Canada. I live in the USA but I am not quite an American. Home & Belonging are a constant theme in my work. I am obsessed with infusing the environment into my paintings. For me, this is an opportunity to gather information about a place & an attempt to belong to where I am. After all of these years, my relationship to Home & Belonging have come down to this: “You are only free when you realize your belong to no place - you belong every place - you belong no place at all. The price is high. The reward is great.” Maya Angelou
