Art, as they say, is open to interpretation, and "Transcendence Calling" is no exception. As I stand before it, I am reminded of the power of transcending our own limitations. We all carry beliefs that either others or ourselves have instilled in us, beliefs that often hinder our growth and potential. This painting represents the courage to break free from these constraints, to journey beyond self-imposed boundaries.
For me, "Transcendence Calling" is an invitation to embrace a fearless and expansive version of ourselves. It's about discarding the shackles of self-doubt and stepping into a realm of abundance and possibility.

In a desire-driven world, 'The Golden Calf' blends spirituality, materialism, and human nature. Using cowhide from her native country of Brazil and gold pigment fusion, the artist prompts contemplation of humanity's spiritual journey. Drawing from the biblical narrative, it mirrors tension between devotion and desires. Cowhide metaphorically embodies primal aspects, grounding us. Gold pigment signifies the divine spark in individuals, epitomizing profound pursuits. Fostering conversations around materialism and spirituality, the piece offers an opportunity for self-discovery and commitment to the divine within.
Crafted amid Utah's scorching summer. Iron-rich soil, sand, and sawdust textures echo the land. Each stroke a meditation, radiating gratitude and purpose. A tribute to living authentically, igniting others to embrace their strength.
I don't usually make reactionary posts regarding the news, but this is different. Maui isn't just a place we lived; we still consider it our home. Many members of our Ohana call Maui home too. The wildfires and the resulting devastation on this paradisiacal island are shattering our hearts. We've been closely monitoring the news since the fires started on Tuesday, August 8.
Excited to reveal my newest creation, "Desert Oasis." Infused with iron-rich Utah soil, Great Salt Lake's salt, and foraged sawdust from hikes near my home, it captures the essence of place and belonging. Embracing muted grays, warm taupe, soft greens, and cool blues, this piece embodies serene modernity, bringing the outdoors in.
This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
