It's inevitable. We paint who we are. The way I navigate the canvas is the way I navigate my life. Painting is a catalyst for coming into alignment. Even if you don't consider yourself an artist, or particularly creative, I still believe painting can do wonders for you! Painting introduces you to yourself. The decisions you make on the canvas are in tandem with the way you make decisions in your daily life. If you have a tendency to copy other artists, you might be afraid to trust your own guidance system. If you have a tendency to leave your paintings unfinished, you might be afraid of bringing things to an end. If you want to be seen, or recognize the value in vulnerability, you might prefer bigger canvasses. If you are afraid of being seen, or have reservations about "taking up space", you might confine yourself to smaller canvases only. If you relish in freedom, and trust the wild abandon of the creative process, you might enjoy painting with your eyes closed. If you require rules, boundaries and a sense of control, you might gravitate towards an art teacher that believes there is a "right way" and a "wrong way" of doing things. If you have a tendency to follow trends, this could mean you haven't done your homework to create your own standards of beauty. If you have resigned yourself to the status quo, you might never take that painting class you've always wanted. Today, I invite you to paint your life the way you paint your canvases. And vice versa. This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
