Maui is brimming with an abundance of sacred energy that I find difficult to express in words. During my stay, I was enveloped by a sense of being held and supported by the island's energy, leading me to believe that Maui is a "thin place" - a place where the boundary between heaven and earth is said to be thin according to Celtic Christian tradition. Being immersed in this energy left me feeling renewed and revitalized.
There were many remarkable experiences during my time on Maui, including a sunrise canoe paddle while chanting an ancient Hawaiian mele, a hike through the magnificent Iao Valley, and snorkeling at the La Perouse Bay nature preserve. Additionally, a group meditation and singing at the home of the late spiritual teacher Ram Dass were among the highlights of my trip.
What made my experience even more special was the feeling of "ohana" or family, which made me feel at home on the island.
This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
