Kade Christian Clemensen 1988-2022
Life is short. Death is quick. Yesterday morning I received the devastating news that my friend & colleague died by suicide. My heart sank. My body shook from head to toe. My legs gave way and I collapsed to the ground in shock & disbelief.
The world has lost an extremely good human. A gentle soul trying to make his way through the world, doing what he could to lessen suffering for others by bringing awareness to the very issues that plagued him.
In my last message to him, I expressed my eagerness to discuss what he had planned for the gallery in 2022. I never heard back. This thought chills me to the core.
In all, I participated in 3 art shows with Kade. All of them benefited the Children's Hospital in an effort to bring awareness to mental heath & suicide prevention. I also connected several family members & friends to Kade who consequently also participated in shows at It's Not A Gallery. We all feel this loss deeply. My heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult & transitional time. Thank you for sharing your son & brother with the world. We're all better for it.
I feel changed by this experience. Emboldened to tell my own story of coping with depression, suicide attempts & hospitalization. To put it simply, art-making has been my life saver in a turbulent sea.
