Zoom in. Notice the footprints? Crafted as a tribute to my late father, this piece began with layers taken from a road atlas he cherished throughout the years. An avid enthusiast of cars, driving, and road trips, my dad's passion became the inspiration.
When a loved one passes, what do you do with their belongings? Rooted in creativity, spirituality, and resourcefulness, my process naturally involves incorporating these remnants into my artwork. Yet, the road map layers felt incomplete. To enhance the piece, I added a subsequent layer of plaster and paint, imprinting my own footprints to symbolize the places my father and I journeyed together throughout his lifetime. I miss you dad.
