2024 Naturalization
In the year I became an American citizen, I created sculptural paintings infused with organic materials collected from the places I explored. My artistic journey is guided by the insights of Ram Dass, Joseph Campbell, and Alan Watts. For me, painting serves as a compass for meditation and divine connection. Citizenship is akin to clothing—something I wear but that does not define me. With three citizenships throughout my life, this realization resonates profoundly.
My work reflects a spiritual and cultural journey shaped by my experiences of naturalization. Drawing inspiration from these transformative moments, my art incorporates symbols such as mandalas, the moon, ethereal landscapes, butterflies, gold, prayer beads, chakras, and Kintsugi. These themes embody spiritual exploration and transformation, expressing my understanding of identity and the complexities of the human experience.
