Illumination Rising from the Depths
With this body of work, I explore place, home, belonging, immigration, and the passage of time. These paintings serve as tools for orientation—quiet maps drawn from the environments that birthed them. Through them, I offer an alternative view of grounding oneself in new surroundings, inviting reflection on the layered complexities of identity and the eternal search for belonging. Many canvases shimmer with golden powders—an intentional alchemy, illuminating the surface like halos around saints. Painting becomes transmutation: ordinary matter turned sacred, rupture into radiance.
