2016 – Sunday Best

2016 – Sunday Best

This series was born from immersion in Salt Lake City’s scorching summer and the wild landscapes surrounding it. I climbed the Uinta Mountains, explored Timpanogos Cave, wandered the bone-dry shores of Antelope Island, and surrendered to Moab’s relentless sun. The American West unfolded as vast, raw, mysterious—overwhelmingly beautiful.

Materials were gathered locally: red earth, sand, sawdust, plaster, and fragments of Utah newspapers. Thick textures mingle with reflective metallic powders, allowing each painting to shift subtly with light and angle—inviting viewers to experience its evolving presence.

Through these works, I celebrate the land’s unique essence and the deep, transformative connection it awakens.
