2016 – Love Is the Balm
This series reflects the diverse lands that shaped it: soft, ethereal greys and taupes of British Columbia; vibrant pulse of Calgary; vast skies of the Alberta prairies; raw, striking beauty of Hawaii; and the emerging spirit of Salt Lake City, Utah.
2016 was a year of travel and quiet transformation. I realized there is nowhere to get to—I had already arrived.
Each painting is built with locally foraged materials: earth, sand, crushed bone, organic pigments, metallic powders. They invite viewers to feel the essence of these distinct places and the healing balm of simply being present within them.
