Well-Travelled is a series of 10 canvasses painted between February 22 – 26, 2015 in the idyllic French town of Saint Germain-en-Laye, France. Inspiration and artistic expression during this period reached an all-time high.
It was there amongst centuries-old castles and churches, narrow, cobblestone streets, the damp chill of winter and the smell of rain and fresh bread, that a prolific collection of works was created.
Painting abroad posed some unique challenges and opportunities. Seeing as I could only transport what I could fit into one suitcase, I decided that the most lightweight and compact way to do this was to paint on typic, unstretched canvasses. It would be ideal for folding and packing.
The results speak for themselves. A collection of raw, straight-out-of-the-suitcase collection of paintings, rich in folds, wrinkles, and Paris.
