I've taught multiple 8-week long classes before. But this one was my first in the USA!! Needless to say, it was pretty special. Not only am I grateful to do what I love, but I also feel super blessed to be able to teach Fearless Abstract Painting in my new home town.
Thank you ever so much ladies, for giving me the opportunity to make new friends, enjoy a strong sense of community, and enjoy my Thursday nights like never before. May this tradition be the first of many more nights spent just like this.
Being an artist is typically not a team sport. So when we come together as an artist collective, I believe we have an extremely valuable opportunity to be inspired by others, exchange ideas, draw from each other's experiences, and enjoy the camaraderie of a supportive, like-minded community.
A huge thanks to Kimball Art Center in Park City, UT for facilitating this awesome event.
Painting my personal truth (another way of saying this is painting with authenticity) is the best way I know how to make work that is meaningful, sustainable, fresh, magnetic, beautiful and inspiring.
So every once in a while, I like to check in with myself and ask the following 5 questions to help me make sure I am on the right track.
The key here is to answer the questions. The only way to calibrate your creative compass is to take the time and do the mental work to answer these questions for yourself.
I couldn't have asked for a better introduction: My first ! ! SOLD OUT ! ! 2-day Fearless Abstract Painting workshop at the Kimball Art Center in Park City, UT was a huge success. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share my techniques & philosophies with such an enthusiastic, grateful and receptive audience.
There are some workshops that leave me feeling simply... edified. Teaching at Swinton's Art Supply in Calgary, Canada was exactly that. I wish I would have gotten more pictures of the incredible work that the students made during our time together. Truly, it was really, REALLY amazing work. Thank you to all of the incredible souls who participated and contributed to making these workshops a massive success.
14 FearLESS artists. 5-days of Fearless Abstract Painting w/ Metallics at Summer Series Art School in Red Deer, Alberta. After a 3-year absence from Canada, I am honoured to teach amongst my Canadian friends once again. Thank you for your openness, your receptivity, and your willingness to go deep, and confront the fears that keep us from expressing the best versions of ourselves on and off the canvas.
I am on cloud 9! We've just completed day-2 of our FearLESS abstract painting workshop at the University of Utah. What transpired during this workshop is nothing short of "magic'.
Student Question: Hi Samantha. I am registered in your workshop in Red Deer, Canada. I am wondering what type of gel medium and moulding paste we need? Light, medium or heavy? Also, what type of gold leaf powders do you use? I also like metallic leaf. Is there opportunity to use gold leaf? Can we use fluid acrylics rather then tube?
This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and
