Your Painting Is Your Message

4/9/2021

Your painting is your message. I didn’t always know this, I didn’t always believe this, but I have found this to be true.

The truth is, I haven’t always painted with love. Some of my paintings were full of fear - a need to be loved, a yearning to be accepted, esteemed, appreciated, or just good enough. Other paintings we straight up exorcisms as I endeavored to transform the energy of a painful emotion.

Over the years I’ve become a little bit wiser. These days I paint for peace.

My painting process is my mindfulness practice. Painting in my yoga. Each painting is a prayer, a mantra for meditation - a way to be in alignment with Source.

It’s difficult. I know! The illusion of separation is so real. We are a society focused and rewarding of results not effort. We fixate on the final product giving little or no regard  to how the product was actually made.

Everyday in the studio and with each class I teach, I attempt to embody the message that we paint who we are.

If we are full of fear, we will create a ripple effect through our paintings of fear.

If we are full of love and paint in harmony with love, we will create a ripple effect through our paintings of love.

I know this. I have seen it! I have experienced it many, many times.

In my own life, My paintings are my message. How something is made is just as important (if not more) that what is made.

This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
