We arrived in Salt Lake City on Tuesday. I barely had time to unpack my bags. I boarded a plane to Atlanta on Friday. I forgot to bring my apron, my spray bottle, paper towels, Saran wrap, and music. Usually I am not this forgetful. But in the midst of a major move, this is the best I could do. You'd think that I would be stressed, disheveled, anxious, worried, and exhausted. Because our home was destroyed by a volcano, because we experienced two home evacuations in the past 6 months (the first on account of the Kilauea eruptions on the Big Island, and the second as a result of wild fires caused by hurricane Lane), 2 hurricanes, a tropical storm, flash floods, losing most of our belongings, and being forced to sell the rest. Incredibly, I feel awesome. Here is my coping mechanism: I am doing what I love. I absolutely love teaching! I have a burning passion, and a contagious enthusiasm for empowering others through the medium of art making. I am super grateful for the people who have made this weekend a reality. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do what I love. Aside from sharing this experience with my incredible partner, there is honestly no place I would rather be. And (finally!) that's a really good sign. Roswell, GA Comments are closed.

This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
