Painting a commissioned painting is both an honor and a privilege . I delight in creating a custom piece tailor made to suit a client's home. I begin the process with gratitude and I get really, really excited about the blank canvas. It's full of infinite possibility! I trust that the process will evolve effortlessly as a result of aligning myself with the creative flow.
I write these intentions on the canvas surface. Intentions are powerful, and I believe they can be felt even though the writing will eventually get covered up.
I consider where the painting is going, and where it will be placed. I imagine that it will bring great joy to its owner and all those who see it for years to come. On a practical level, I take into the account the colors of the room, the furniture, and the surrounding surface textures.
I put on my head phones and dance, allowing the music and the process of creating to evolve into ideas. I am full of happiness, suspended in the present moment, caught in between the realm of our earthly existence, and an ethereal place of spirit and divine communion.
Initial photos and videos are shared with the client. Any adjustments, if necessary, are gladly and lovingly made until a consensus is reached that this is "perfect".
Our time is up. It's time for the painting to embark on its final journey to it's new home. Visiting Angels will live by the sea in its new Manhattan Beach home.
This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
