I've always thought of my paintings as talismans for healing - I am cognizant that the energy infused into a painting is also the energy it exudes, so I was honored when a dear friend commissioned me to create a small painting for her mother who is receiving treatment at the hospital.
Since I infuse the Utah environment into my paintings, I think it’s only right to give back to organizations advocating to protect the lands we love.
This painting just sold & helped to raise funds in support of Utah Open Lands It was created as an homage to the Utah landscape using: iron-rich Utah dirt, salt from the Great Salt Lake, foraged sawdust from the 2020 Utah windstorm, local newspaper, acrylic paint, plaster & copper pigments to the painted surface. ‘Transcendence’ acrylic & mixed media on canvas 24 x 48 in. The Pacific Northwest has many faces: beautiful coastlines, verdant landscapes, rainy weather, and spectacular mountains.
For my latest commission painting, I distilled some of my favorite colors and textures of the region including: a map of the Pacific Coast Highway and exposing the canvas to the rain. Burnished acrylic & mixed media painting on canvas 30 x 40 in. Commissioned paintings infused with Hawaiian seashells to serve as "windows to a happier place". My dear friend is undergoing a score of medical procedures. When she commissioned me to paint her 2 paintings with her favorite colors, I was thrilled. I hope they serve as a welcome refuge for years to come.

Colors, Texture & Movement
Commission Paintings inspired by the Great Salt Lake made with the Great Salt Lake. Blue - the most universally loved color.
Many requests lately for commission paintings including blue. In approaching my work, I always try to chose a varied palette of textures - not only in terms of how they will appear on the canvas, but also how they will contrast with each other. LIGHT & AIRY| I delight in creating one-of-kind commission paintings for my collectors. This pretty pair flew the coup this morning towards their new home in Hermosa Beach, California. I love the calm, peaceful palette & the serenity they exude. I can't wait to see how they settle into their new nest.
