In short, my father's death expedited my bucket list. I realized in a very personal, very intense sort of way that none of us know how much time we have left, and life could slip away quite unexpectedly at any moment. As a result, I decided to do some serious soul searching, make a list, and channel all of my energy into accomplishing my life's unique purpose with newfound vigor, focus and intensity. Creating a series of sculptural paintings is one of those goals. Peeling back the layers. Seeing deeper into ourselves. Sculptural paintings made with plaster, newspaper and repurposed paint. Each painting is imbued with a mantra for mindfulness. BIG. AMAZING. WONDERFUL things are happening at Workshop SLC and I am so happy to be a part of it! Here is a short story about contrast: Renting an art studio is a big deal. I am extremely cognizant that we become (whether we like it or not!) the people we spend the majority of our time with. My most challenging commission panting to date! How else are we to grow if we remain within the preconceived boundaries we have created for ourselves? We miss 100% of the shots we don’t take. BEFORE & AFTER Dining Room Transformation Thanks to the creative mavericks at Root'd this dining room received a custom wall painting. What do you think of the results? I am beyond honored to have contributed my particular hand to this exciting project. A sense of place. Bringing the outride in. An homage to the environment in which they were created. The paintings in this series were made using: iron-rich Utah dirt, salt from The Great Salt Lake, metallic powders, plaster, repurposed paint, and local newspapers. All works available at 15th Street Gallery I love creating custom paintings that are in complete harmony with a client's space. These tiny triptychs were made for a gorgeous remodel in one of Salt Lake City's most iconic neighborhoods: The Avenues. Quite often, I have privy to the space (in all it's beautiful chaos) during the construction/remodel process. I love this! I feel such a huge sense of honor and responsibility to get it right, and contribute my particular hand to a client's home sanctuary. A big thank you to Always Evolve Magazine + Workshop SLC for featuring my work! I am so grateful for local artists & local businesses who band together to connect, support & uplift each other. I am honored to be affiliated with such a talented roster of kind, creative, visionary humans.
