The Best of Stampede 2015

Am I spending a small fortune, subjecting myself to insufferable heat, bad fashion, greasy foods and crowds for nothing? Will my nieces and nephews remember? Will they even care? Here are my 9 favorite Calgary Stampede happenings of 2015:

1. The Western Art Show

This was one of my favorite events not because of the show itself but because I arrived in a convertible Beamer. Oh yes I did. It wasn't my beamer but that is clearly not the point I am trying to make here. Read more about the art show here.

2. Stampede Getup

This is my Stampede outfit. My bag has fringe.

3. Outdoor Music Concerts

I counted at least 17 phones in this picture. Sadly, watching a concert through a tiny screen has become ordinary. Despite the weirdos, outdoor music concerts are still one of my favorite summer activities.

4. Stephen Avenue Comes Alive

I am so used to seeing this street covered in ice that it hardly looks like the same country.

5. Impromptu Square Dancing

When you run into a square dancing hoedown, well, that's cool in my books.

6. City Dress Up

Stampede time means Calgary gets a Stampede make over. One of my favorites this year is this giant tippee next to the big head.

7. Kids Day

It's positively mayhem. I mean seriously, who in their right mind would go anywhere near the grounds on a day like today?! A devoted auntie would.

8. That Damn Lemonade

It's so delicious! I have no doubt I am swallowing big gulps of liquid sugar. But when it's 32 degrees you won't think twice about paying $7 per cup. Well, maybe you'll think twice but you'll do it anyways because you don't have a choice.

9. Memory Making

Am I spending a small fortune, subjecting myself to insufferable heat, bad fashion, greasy foods and crowds for nothing? Will my nieces and nephews remember? Will they even care? Let's just hope and pray that it makes a difference.

It is awesome that you can see the bright side of every situation! Sometimes we have fo force ourselves to do it, but it is a good practice!
