One I like. The other I don't.
Never mind the fact that I chose to photograph an artist quality (Golden Raw Umber) next to a student quality (Galleria Burnt Umber). The fact remains that when it comes to my method of painting (rollers, mediums and extremely diluted acrylic paint) I prefer the Raw Umber over Burnt Umber any day.
A natural cool brown
Leans towards green rather than orange
Looks crisper & cleaner when diluted with a lot of water
A natural warm brown
Leans towards orange not green
Tends to look muddy when diluted with a lot of water
Another one of my favorite browns to use is Vandyke Brown by Winsor Newton.
This blog was created to share my belief that the art making process can be a vehicle for empowerment.
I am living proof.
