Can you guess how many of the following 21 images are real paintings?
Answer: Images 3, 5, 6, 9, 12, 13, 17 & 20 are photos of rocks found in Utah.
When I began painting professionally, I was told that I needed to know how to draw. Not true! I was also told that I needed an art degree, paint brushes, a color wheel, an easel, a sketchbook, a myriad of paints and potions from the art store (and the art store only!), expensive canvasses, a fancy art studio, gallery representation, and a mind full of good ideas to transcribe on to the canvas.
I am so grateful that I decided to follow my own compass, and endeavoured to create a style and paintings that are authentic and unique as I am. My color wheel and greatest inspiration continues to be, the one and only: Mother Nature.
Striving to capture her beauty, chaotic and organized, spontaneous and planned, muted and bright, smooth and textured, hard and gentle, is a challenge and an honour.
This blog was created to share my belief that the art making process can be a vehicle for empowerment.
I am living proof.
