​I came across this old piece of writing today and felt inspired to share it. Happy Winter Solstice, everyone! Let’s celebrate the rebirth of the sun and the return of the light.

Finding Freedom

A hummingbird just is. 
A hummingbird is a thing of beauty.
Its mere presence in the world is enough. Everyone loves hummingbirds. 
You are a hummingbird.
A thing of beauty. 
Your mere presence in the world is enough. 
(You don’t have to try so hard.) 
Relax into that. 
Relax into the edges. 
Just like when you add water to paint and it begins to soften.
The edges start to blur.
Soften into the edges.
You don’t have to try so hard.
(You don’t have to try to hold it all together so tightly. Flapping your tiny wings. Moving from place to place.)
Your mere presence is enough.
