These are strange times indeed. The dichotomy between connection and isolation have never been more apparent. Fortunately, painting offers a gentle, yet powerful reprieve. But you don't have to take my word for it! Allow me to share a recent testimonial from someone who is channeling the healing power of painting during this time in quarantine:
There's never been a better time to begin your "fearless" abstract painting journey. Use your time in quarantine to clear some space and experiment on the canvas. Have fun!
In the following blog post, I share my Top 3 unorthodox acrylic painting texture techniques:
Join me for my first ZOOM workshop on May 30th from 10 am - 4 pm MST to learn how to make ethereal, highly textured abstract paintings using unorthodox tools & techniques.
For me, there is no better way to homage to the sacred land we tread upon than to infuse the environment into my work namely: iron-rich Utah dirt, salt from The Great Salt Lake, plaster, repurposed paint, and local newspapers.
I am inspired by nature's pairings of texture, color combinations, and the way it uses water to cut, carve, blend, build, feed and destroy.

I’ve been asked wether teaching my painting techniques & philosophies has created my own competition. Honest answer? Maybe. However, I continue to teach because not doing my part to create positive change in my tiny corner of the universe would be a super waste of resources.
Participants walk away from my workshops changed, inspired, happier & less afraid. What else are we here for but to share our bounty with others & raise the vibration of our incredible planet?! Thank you @uofulifelonglearning for giving us the opportunity to paint fearless.

Having the privilege to do what I love everyday fells like I won some kind of cosmic lottery. I feel a massive sense of responsibility to live my best life, and to do right by my opportunities. Why? Because wasting my time would be a super tragedy. As a daughter of Brazilian immigrants, I still remember vividly how much my parents sacrificed in order to give us (their kids) a better future. How could I take that for granted? Living here and now is a huge privilege, so I bust my ass everyday in order to make sure I aim to inspire before I expire.
I created a habit a few years ago to take inventory of the past year in order to better understand my choices, and help me navigate the upcoming year. I do this by making 4 comprehensive lists: 1. Professional Accomplishments, 2. Personal Accomplishments, 3. Professional Projections (aka Goals), 4. Personal Projections (aka Goals). This year, I'm starting early!
So here's to my mom & dad, and to all of us who are doing our best to create a better world today:
#1 Studio Grand Opening
I've taught multiple 8-week long classes before. But this one was my first in the USA!! Needless to say, it was pretty special. Not only am I grateful to do what I love, but I also feel super blessed to be able to teach Fearless Abstract Painting in my new home town.
Thank you ever so much ladies, for giving me the opportunity to make new friends, enjoy a strong sense of community, and enjoy my Thursday nights like never before. May this tradition be the first of many more nights spent just like this.
This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
