Q. I applied a glossy varnish to one of my paintings and it's too shiny. What can I do to matte it down a bit?
A. If you have varnished your painting and you think it is too shinny, I suggest applying a coat of matte varnish overtop of the gloss varnish. This should matte it down a bit.
In the future, mix equal parts of gloss & matte varnish to create your own custom semi-gloss blend.
