In a world driven by desire, "The Golden Calf" invites us to reflect on our spiritual journey. Using cowhide from my native country of Brazil and rich gold pigment, this artwork captures the tension between our earthly cravings and our higher selves. It’s a powerful conversation starter about materialism and spirituality, urging us to explore our own paths to self-discovery and deeper connection to the divine.

I am thrilled to highlight my piece, "The Golden Calf", crafted from Brazilian cowhide and gold pigment. MEDIUM: Mixed Media SIZE: 48” x 36” Weakness and cracks are where the light shines in. This sentiment resonates deeply with me during this challenging season. Honestly, October has tested me in ways I never anticipated, I struggled to connect with others and hesitated to step into my studio. Just when I felt lost, a dear friend gifted me two previously loved canvases - a timely reminder that beauty often emerges from unexpected places. Today, I returned to my studio, and it feels incredible to immerse myself in creation again. As I work on my sculptural paintings, full of cracks and imperfections, I’m reminded of 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” These cracks tell a story of resilience, of light breaking through darkness. They remind me that even in our most vulnerable moments, we can find strength and inspiration. Here’s to embracing our journeys—imperfections and all—and letting our inner light shine through. I'm so excited to share that I'll be part of a group show at the amazing WOW Atelier during the November SLC gallery stroll! This retrospective celebrates all the talented artists who have exhibited there, including my own show in 2022.
I can't wait to reconnect with our wonderful community, and I hope to see your smiling faces there. What: Synthesis Artist Group Show When: Friday, November 15 Time: 6 - 9 PM Where: be-wow.com Thank you for your incredible support! |
