A few weeks ago I submitted two totally different paintings to my first juried exhibition in Hawai’i: Art Is Healing. One of the paintings was a loose representation of a landscape using bright colors, and the other was a pure abstract in neutral colors. Which one do you think made it into the show?
The Hawaiian sky is an ever changing kaleidoscope of colors, shapes, textures and forms. Inspiration is everywhere. Clouds dance and spread much like paint and water moving across a canvas. Colors arrange and rearrange themselves in seemingly endless combinations. My jaw hangs open as I stare at the constantly evolving abstraction before me. The only words that escape my lips are curt: "Wow".
Who would have thought that a heartfelt dedication to Fearless Abstract Painting would inspire an opportunity to showcase my paintings in Hawai'i?! I certainly didn't. If you don't begin to make your dreams a reality, how will you ever know what you are capable of? I am thrilled to be participating in Hawai'i's Art Is Healing Second Annual Juried Exhibition on Friday, September 30, 2016. I am equally excited to continue exploring the possibility of hosting a Fearless Abstract Painting retreat in this stunning tropical paradise. Stay tuned for more details. Aloha!
This blog was created to share my belief that the art making process can be a vehicle for empowerment.
I am living proof.
