My latest series of paintings are inspired by the time I spent traveling in the American West. The majority of the materials used to make these works were sourced within Utah, and these include: Red earth, sand, sawdust, plaster, plant seeds, and powdered earth pigments such as Black Oxide, Green, Red and Yellow Ochre. Note that due to the highly textured canvasses, paintings may have slightly different colouring than shown. Which one is your favourite? The idea that we need a designated painting studio and long, uninterrupted stretches of time in order to make work, is completely unnecessary. Trust me, I know this from personal experience. I am honoured to have been selected to participate in Desere Pressey's debut curatorial exhibition at Gerry Thomas Gallery on June 24, 2016 in Calgary, Alberta. Read more about it HERE. |
This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
