Antelope Island is truly one of the most beautiful places that I have ever seen. Aside from it's sprawling beauty, there is an energy here that is hard to describe. Suffice it to say that for me, this is a spiritual place. There are no seashells to gather along these shores. Only dry bones, bleached stark white by the scorching sun. Ethereal, other-worldly, peaceful, emotive, effortless and vast. This is how I want my paintings to look and feel. I am inspired by nature's texture pairings, color combinations, and the way it uses water to cut, carve, blend, build, feed and destroy. My largest commission to date (8.5 feet by 10 feet) has been stretched and delivered! This means I can finally share with you what has consumed my thoughts (and my studio) for the past few months. These photos were taken on the day I signed the painting, and saw my work stretched on a frame for the first time. My happiness is obvious don't you agree? |
This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
