I’ve been reading an inspiring book by Byron Katie, and her words resonate deeply with me. As an artist, I believe that freeing ourselves from others' expectations and our own need for validation creates a nurturing environment for meaningful, sustainable art.
Over the past 17 years, these four questions have profoundly shaped my artistic journey. I believe they are essential for creating sustainable and meaningful work. I hope they inspire you to unleash your creativity and create your best art.
Fearless Painting: 4 Questions to Unlock Your Creativity 1. Who are you truly painting for? Creating for yourself often leads to the most genuine and fulfilling expressions. 2. What would you create if no one were watching? Freedom from judgment can reveal your most authentic self. 3. What would you paint if this were the last painting you ever made? This moment is your legacy; make it resonate with purpose and passion. 4. What would you paint if you weren’t afraid? Embracing courage can unlock new realms of creativity and self-expression. It fills my heart with joy to see my writing and art come together in a way that beautifies our beloved city. My sidewalk poetry stamp is now installed at Rosewood Park, right near the electric vehicle charging stations. If you’re in the area, I’d love for you to check it out! As someone who has lived a nomadic life and holds three citizenships, Salt Lake City stands out as one of the few places where I’ve truly felt a sense of belonging and rootedness. This city has woven itself into my journey, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to its vibrant community with meaningful art. You can find Rosewood Park at 1400 N 1200 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84116. I hope my poetry can inspire and resonate with those who encounter it. Happy Full Moon! These paintings honor the beauty of completion and manifestation - a reminder to celebrate our achievements and recognize what we've created. Take this moment to release negativity and welcome what serves your growth. Let the full moon inspire your journey.

'Samantha da Silva invites us to find beauty in what's hidden, and strength in vulnerability. Through rich textures and deliberate voids, this mixed media piece explores the quiet power of being truly seen. Crafted with acrylic paint, plaster, red Utah dirt, foraged sawdust, local newspaper, and silk Shibari rope - each material chosen with intention - this work is a poetic meditation on concealment, revelation, and the infinite." Gallery Mar Now available at https://www.gallerymar.com/artists/samantha-da-silva "A joyful heart is the normal result of a heart burning with love. Joy is not simply a matter of temperament, it is always hard to remain joyful - all the more reason why we should try to acquire it and make it grow it in our hearts. Joy is a prayer; joy is strength; joy is love. She gives most who gives with joy." In the Heart of the World, Mother Theresa
A Joyful Heart, mixed media, 60" x 48" "I was alive once, here for a fleeting moment, and I chose to make art."
My creative process begins with writing intentions directly onto the canvas with paint. Though these words may eventually be covered by layers of color and texture, their essence lingers, resonating with those who view the work. Each piece is a reflection of the fleeting nature of our time, a reminder of the transformative power of living with intention. Art becomes a celebration of existence, capturing the beauty of every moment. |
This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
