Heaven Over Earth

3/29/2025

Picture
"And a woman spoke, saying, Tell us of Pain.

And he said: Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;
And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.
And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.

Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility:
For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen,
And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears." The Prophet, Kahlil Gibran

The Art of Intimacy: Into-Me-See

3/27/2025

Picture
The term "into-me-see" is a play on words that emphasizes the idea of true intimacy. It suggests a deep level of connection where individuals allow each other to see into their innermost thoughts, feelings, and vulnerabilities. This concept goes beyond surface-level interactions and fosters an environment of trust, openness, and understanding.

In relationships, "into-me-see" intimacy can manifest through honest communication, emotional sharing, and a willingness to be vulnerable with one another. It highlights the importance of being fully present and engaged, allowing partners to connect on a deeper emotional and psychological level.

A Tribute to Utah: Nature & Spirit

3/27/2025

Picture
My initial inspiration for this piece was the desire to explore the rich symbolism of beeswax, reflecting both the industrious spirit of Utah and its connection to the natural world. As I contemplated the state flag, adorned with a beehive, the word "industry" resonated deeply with me.

As the piece evolved, I carved a cross onto the surface—a tribute to Utah's spiritual roots and a nod to the four corners that symbolize unity and the intertwining of diverse beliefs, including those of the Native American communities that have shaped this land.

The carved lines began to resemble wounds in need of healing, prompting me to pack them with ash from a spring equinox fire. This act signifies renewal and new beginnings, embodying the transformative power of faith and connection.

"4 Corners: Intersections of Faith" is a mixed media work that fuses beeswax, ash, and other materials on canvas (12”x9”). It invites viewers to reflect on their own journeys of healing, growth, and the intersections that shape our collective spiritual landscape.

Be One

3/14/2025

Picture
This contemporary mixed media piece features a deliberate incision at its center, symbolizing the profound journey of introspection and self-discovery. It invites viewers to turn inward, where the essence of truth resides.

In this cosmic exploration, the Goddess returns to her core: her center, her sex. The incision acts as an arrow of energy, directing focus toward the depths of the self.

Through this work, I aim to evoke a dialogue about the relationship between the inner self and universal consciousness, inviting you to explore the transformative power of turning inward.
