1996. Grade 11. Standing awkwardly beside my artworks at the high school show—heart pounding, trying to disappear. (Spot the three tiny arrows pointing to the pieces I poured everything into. My proudest secrets.) Full 90s grunge armor: oversized everything, no makeup, no jewelry. Fueled by Fiona Apple, Pearl Jam, and The Cranberries. Coca-Cola, Kit Kats, and endless hours lost in books, journals, and making.
One drawing still echoes: my hand-drawn Shawshank Redemption poster: “Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free.” I didn’t know it then, but that line was already mapping my path—straight to the workshops I now call Fearless Abstract Painting. If I could whisper to that soft-spoken, self-conscious girl: You are beautiful exactly as you are. You don’t need to hide your differences. They’re your superpower. Lean into whatever lights you up—reading, writing, creating. Art isn’t just a hobby. It’s your language. Your freedom. Nearly three decades later, I’m still here. Still making. That quiet devotion carried me through every doubt and darkness. And it still does. To anyone feeling too quiet, too different, too much: You are already enough. Keep going. The world needs what only you can create. Comments are closed.

This blog was created to share my belief that the art-making process is a catalyst for transformation and personal empowerment. I am living proof.
