2025 Echoes of Change
The Earth speaks to us all the time, and for those attuned to listen, its voice is like an orchestra. Drawing on my experiences of migration and adaptation, each piece becomes a visual narrative that invites viewers to reflect on their own journeys.
I work with locally sourced materials—earth, sand, and organic pigments—to create textures that embody the physicality of change. This process honors the sacred land of Utah that sustains me, letting the environment inform my work. I am drawn to painting outdoors, infusing the surroundings into the surfaces as I work: floating canvases on the waters of the Great Salt Lake and nearby rivers, letting the sun bake thick layers of texture and the wind deposit organic materials into the surface. In this collaboration with nature, I feel I am painting in harmony with my environment. Having experienced uprooting, working with the earth provides grounding and a sense of belonging to where I am.
Echoes of Change celebrates channeling and transforming emotions. Through moments of pain and joy, I find solace in painting, allowing the creative process to guide me toward healing and insight.
