2016 – Sunday Best
This series was born from deep immersion in Salt Lake City’s scorching summer and the wild landscapes surrounding it. I climbed the Uinta Mountains, explored Timpanogos Cave, wandered the bone-dry shores of Antelope Island, and surrendered to Moab’s relentless sun. The American West revealed itself as vast, raw, mysterious, and overwhelmingly beautiful.
I gathered materials locally — red earth, sand, sawdust, plaster, and fragments of Utah newspapers. Thick textures mingle with reflective metallic powders, allowing each painting to shift subtly with changing light and angle — inviting the viewer to experience its evolving presence.
Through these works, I celebrate the land’s unique essence and the deep, transformative connection it awakens.
