Inspired by the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, I've come to realize the profound truth in letting go of the need for my story to unfold in a specific way.
The recent sale of "Trust Your Inner Compass" at Gallery Mar perfectly reflects this philosophy. Tolle's wisdom encourages us to release the concerns about success, recognizing that embracing the present is a success in itself. Life flows more effortlessly when we cease to exert excessive effort and instead trust our inner compass. Thrilled to continue enriching my community through exhibitions and collaborative workshops in 2024!
Upcoming Events: Inanimate objects carry the vibration of their maker. I am extremely cognizant the emotions I infuse into my work can, indeed, be sensed by those who experience it. While some may dismiss this as mere sentimentality, I steadfastly believe in its authenticity. Our surroundings shape who we are. As a creator, my goal is to harmonize with my creations, ensuring that those who engage with my work, particularly those who share their space with it, reap the benefits. I express sincere gratitude to both business and private collectors who choose to invest in my work.
Do not follow the ideas of others, but learn to listen to the voice within yourself. As you attune to your body and mind, clarity will unfold, revealing the interconnectedness of all existence.
This sculptural piece emerged following a profound shamanic session with the great yogi; Asha Kirti. During meditation, I visualized my essence anchored to the world's core, granting my soul the liberty to transcend boundaries. Crafted as a tribute to my late father, this piece began with layers taken from a road atlas he cherished throughout the years. An avid enthusiast of cars, driving, and road trips, my dad's passion became the inspiration.
When a loved one passes, what do you do with their belongings? Rooted in creativity, spirituality, and resourcefulness, my process naturally involves incorporating these remnants into my artwork. Yet, the road map layers felt incomplete. To enhance the piece, I added a subsequent layer of plaster and paint, imprinting my own footprints to symbolize the places my father and I journeyed together throughout his lifetime. I miss you dad. Every Step I Take Is My Home, mixed media and gold pigment on canvas, 48” x 36” "Where is home? Not a simple question for someone who's moved again and again and again. From Brazil, to Canada, to the States, Samantha da Silva has moved almost 40 times - at first to find a better life, then sometimes because of metaphorical volcanoes, and once, a real one. In 2018 lava chased her and her husband from their Hawaii home.
When change is the only constant, sometimes you need something else to count on. da Silva found it here: Her art is abstract, but is often infused with a very concrete sense of place. So knowing the ground may once again move beneath her feet, she moves ahead with a sense of urgency to appreciate the here and now. No matter where in the world Samantha da Silva is, right now, this is home." Just as your body signals needs, this inner connection fosters a sense of belonging, amplifying your capacity to navigate life's currents with strength and grace.
