This weekend, I participated in an art show I did not attend. But even though I was teaching in Edmonton, my mom (my representative extraordinaire) was keeping me posted via text messages. The show was a huge success. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support.

Good Monday to you! Monday? Good? In the same sentence? Hum... Yes, I know it's hard to believe. So I've decide to make sure that the first thing you see on my blog this morning is
good news!This
Saturday, March 10, 2012 I will be participating in a Show & Sale with a group called

representative extraordinaire - my mom - to help you with the sale or with any questions you might have.
And here's the good news:

When you're happy, when you feel alive, when you want to give back, when you want to set yourself apart, when you're a fearless leader, you wear one leather glove, you let your girlfriend give you a semi-permanent tattoo and you host a kick ass art party.
And I'm not eve close to exaggerating about the latter. SURFACING 5 was a massive success. Thanks to my fearless abstract painting students, thanks to the Calgary School of Art, thanks to music duo It's Lazy and DJ Cones, thanks to the family and friends that supported our creative journey and encouraged us to get to this point.
BTW that semi-permanent tattoo I was talking about... I found it rubbed off all over my sheets this morning. Still, it was totally worth it though. Even if it means having to buy new sheets.
This is it! March 1st is finally upon us. This could only mean one thing: ART PARTY!
That's right. Tonight is the night where I, together with the Calgary School of Art will be hosting a student art show for my SURFACING students.
They have worked so hard for this. We all have! They've made so much progress. It's time to celebrate how far we've come.
6:30 PM Doors open
8 PM Music by special guests It's Lazy & DJ Cones
9 PM Doors close
I heard a rumor about an after party... count me in!
For an official show invite see the side bar. No need to bring the invitation. All are welcome.
No luck dress shopping. (See post following this one) So it's back to the studio to keep working on my two massive (40"X60") canvasses for Thursday's student art show, SURFACING 5. (see sidebar for official invitation).
I decided that instead of having our musical guests perform in front of a blank wall, I would paint a backdrop especially for the show. And no, I will not post these until after the event so if you want to see it you'll have to come.
This is it...
The official announcement for our bi-annual student art show: Surfacing 5
This semester's show is really unique... we will be combining two classes for a total of more than 20 beautiful works of art.
Come join us for an evening of art, celebration and fun!
Please download the official invite for more information.
Ever since I set foot inside Hotel Arts I dreamed about having my work displayed there. It's modern, stylish, sophisticated and well attended by an uber trendy clientele. Even celebrities! Who knew it would come as an opportunity disguised as something like this?!!
I have been approached to be part of a select few silent auction contributors for this year's 18 Degrees of Jazz event. I am so excited! I love a good reason to get all dressed up! Maybe I will wear the blond wig my sister so kindly gave me this Christmas. Why not right?!!
For more information on this event, please visit my website under UPCOMING EVENTS.
Another invitation to showcase my work. This time it happened to be in a private doctor's office. I feel like "YES Man" sometimes... I just couldn't say no! Besides, why would I want to?
Every opportunity I involve myself with is another way to make deeper connections, establish new ones, get my work and my name in front of a new audience, make sales and last but not least, de-clutter my studio space! It makes no sense to me to have work sitting in my studio when it could be out and about being seen.
I think about the time I approached Blink Restaurant & Bar to showcase my work. How could I have possibly known at that time that this opportunity would have translated into getting my work printed on their menus?
What I'm trying to say is, be weary of passing up opportunities just because it seems small, insignificant, too much work, etc. You just never know what might happen if you don't try.
WOW! What a weekend! A group show, a workshop, a work Christmas party and installing a show at the clinic. That's not to mention everything I did in between! Phew! Maybe I should take a day off today.
